Cynthia's Wedding
The meeting and the proposal :
In a bar, he pretended to be able to help me find an internship for my studies and suggested that I send him my CV. The next morning, I received an invitation on social media with this private message: so, about that CV? ... He never actually got it in the end.
For the proposal, he had ordered a ring and a custom Lego piece that said ''Will you marry me?" and had planned a great hotel... but in the end, we went to the hotel, I could feel the proposal coming... and nothing happened... WHAAAAT? WHY ALL THIS? The ring didn't arrive on time, neither did the Lego... He eventually proposed during a walk some time later, but well... I had seen the box in his pocket and was super stressed. Why the Lego? For the past few years, we have been taking photos of our mini-selves in front of famous monuments or landscapes during our travels.
The most memorable moment :
The emotion... After this complicated year, all the pressure fell away and having so many people around us was very moving and impressive. The dance was prepared with our friends; during the lockdown, they had the challenge of learning a part of the dance each week and sending us a video. Also, the speeches from our friends, where I discovered some funny anecdotes myself. And the groom's ring that didn't fit...
The venue :
Ceremonies at Saint-Nicolas de Véroce in Haute-Savoie, a church classified as a historical monument in 2006. The evening in a chalet in the middle of the ski slopes in Savoie (La Belle Métairie). Despite the not-so-great weather for what we had planned, the guests were all happy and enjoyed the moment, and that's what matters most.
The inspirations for the wedding :
We wanted a wedding that reflected us, with our personal touches. So, we started the day with a secular ceremony in homemade personalized white sneakers, a dress from Maison Guillemette for me, and a suit with a wooden bow tie from Reinier in Annecy for Mr. Then, a quick change in 5 minutes, the groom puts on the rest of the suit, his tie, and some lovely shoes from Finsbury (also in Annecy), while I put on my Eglantine Création dress. This dress was mostly modified by the boutique Les Mariées de Julie (in Bour-en-Bresse) to make it my own. For the decor, simple with roses, eucalyptus, and a few Lego touches for fun.
Creating the shoes :
I knew I wanted blue shoes, so I quickly made my choice of material and style. My only dilemma was the size, which was confirmed after a video call with the DMUS team who gave me great advice. I even ordered boots in the same materials to feel like a bride even in winter.
Bride's advice :
Start early to have time to explore many ideas, implement them (it's much more satisfying when you can be proud of your creations), and also to take advantage of promotions. Enjoy the moment to the fullest and keep in mind that not everything will go as planned. After a year of preparation and imagining scenes, the simple fact that the weather was bad disrupted everything. Many things we had envisioned couldn't happen... So, it's important to go into it knowing that nothing is perfect like on the internet haha. Make the most of your guests and this shared moment of happiness.
